During the COVID-19 crisis, accessing routine vet care has been a problem for many.
With a number of veterinary practices only offering face-to-face consultations in an emergency or, at least, changing the way in which they do consultations to ensure staff and patient safety, it has meant a level of disruption to the services we regularly call upon. In fact, this is the case not only for veterinary practices but also other pet services like groomers.
Because of this and, coupled with the fact we’re all staying home, it’s meant we’ve had to be much more flexible in our day-to-day lives, whether about the products we’re using and buying, or the ways in which we’re managing to fulfil our pets’ needs while still adhering to government advice.
The good news is, we’re here to help! Whether that’s by supplying your pet’s regular food, medication and supplies, or simply offering advice over the phone or by email, we can answer your questions and hopefully put your mind at ease.
Below, we’ve also got some tips on caring for your pet during this time, which we help will be useful.
Flea and worming treatments – If parasite control is something you usually discuss with your vet, please get in touch and we can offer advice on this. Whether you’re worried about fleas, ticks, worms or mites, we have products to help prevent and treat, so your pet needn’t be itchy or uncomfortable during lockdown.
Grooming and nail clipping – While we can’t physically groom your pet for you, we can point you in the right direction of expert grooming products, fur trimmers and nail clippers. We also have plenty of related blogs to help guide and support you.
Calmers – It’s not surprising if your pet seems more anxious at the moment, with normal routines out the window and new ones establishing themselves. There’s also likely to be more noise and activity at home while schools remain closed, which may cause stress to pets, especially cats. If you’re worried about your pet’s mood and can’t contact your vet, feel free to get in touch and we’ll do our best to assist! We have many calmers available, including both edible ones and room diffusers and sprays.
Consultations - If you're worried about your pet and your vet doesn't offer online video consultations, you can get in touch with PawSquad who do offer them. They can currently provide some prescriptions too.
