ROYAL CANIN® Canine Anallergenic is specially formulated nutritional solution, created with the specific needs of your nutrient intolerant dog in mind. This food is available in both 3kg and 8kg bags. Formulated with feather protein hydrolysate, ROYAL CANIN® Canine Anallergenic contains very low molecular weight oligopeptides and free amino acids.
Larger proteins of a certain size are more likely to cause an allergic reaction. Low weight oligopeptides and free amino acids are proteins which have been broken into very small pieces to reduce the risk of them being able to cause a reaction in even the very sensitive of dogs and cats.
The kibble in ROYAL CANIN® Canine Anallergenic is formulated with a purified starch source and a specially developed palatability enhancer to satisfy the appetites of even the fussiest dogs. Thanks to ROYAL CANIN® Canine Anallergenic’s specially formulated complex of nutrients, this food helps to support the natural protective barrier role of your dog’s skin for optimal skin health. The synergistic antioxidant complex included in ROYAL CANIN® Canine Anallergenic helps to neutralise free radicals and support the natural defences.
As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Range, it is important that this product is only given to your pet when recommended by a veterinary professional. Nutritional management with the ROYAL CANIN® Canine Anallergenic may be continued throughout your dog’s lifetime. It is recommended to divide the daily intake into 2 meals.

What bird is the feather protein derived from? I have a dog with inflammatory bowel disease and even on this diet, she is having 1 to 2 flare ups per week. She's intolerant to chicken so just wondering if chicken feathers are used in this feed?
This is a completely anallergenic diet meaning it cannot cause a food related reaction in your dog. The feather protein is hydrolysed which means it is processed in such a way to ensure it cannot cause a reaction, even if the original source is an issue for your dog.
It is extremely unlikely to be the diet that is setting off the IBD. It is worth noting that you need to trial a diet like this as the only food (no treats or scavenging) for 8 weeks to be certain if it is making a difference. I recommend discussing this further with your vet if you can.

I have a maltese terroir puppy who has had an allergy test and my vet said Hes allergic to rice can you suggest a rice free food for him please
Royal Canin Anallergenic food is indeed suitable for your dog, as are others. We find that Purina HA is also very popular for dogs like this. They are both suitable for rice allergies and also dogs with multiple allergies. (Often these dogs are allergic to more than one ingredient and allergy tests are not totally reliable in picking them up. Maltese can be fussy, so yours might not be keen on these diets. An alternative which is almost as good and contains no rice is Eukanuba Dermatosis FP. It is one of the top selling diets for dogs with food allergies.
